Character move to point not playing animations

edited February 2015 in Technical Q&A
Hi, I'm making a cutscene and my character just ends up floating to a point instead of using her walking animation. After the cutscene ends the player is given control and the animations work perfectly fine. I'm using mecanim btw

  • Have you told the character to play a custom animation before you tell her to move?  You'll need to reset her by using a Character: Animate action set to Reset To Idle.  Other than that, I can't suggest more without more detail.
  • Thanks for that, I did not play the animation first. Will try that now
  • Hi, I don't see the Reset To Idle option you suggested, how do I get to it?
  • It's in the Character: Animate Action.  When you create one, you'll have a popup labelled Method.  One of the options in there should be Reset To Idle.
  • Ok, I see method. But my three options are "Change Parameter Value" "Set Standard" and "Play Custom".
Now even when I press "Play Custom" and it asks for the clip. I can't drag my clip into the box or select it from my assets it's only allowing me to type. Am I supposed to type the clip name?
  • Hi, ok so when my game is playing in the editor I can see the reset to idle option and my clip problem is fixed, but the problem now is when I stop playing the game it reverts back to the problem I was having before with only those three options. Is this a bug?
  • The exact look of the action is based on the "Animation engine" setting in your character's Player/NPC inspector.  What's it set to?
