My game has a Unity UI inventory grid opened via input. The first time the inventory is opened in a play session, it takes ages - literally about 6 seconds just to open the inventory. Once it's been opened that first time though, you're good - it's pretty much instant as expected after that.
Is there anything I can do to avoid that initial massive loading?

Is it dependent on what's inside the Inventory, or does it take a long time even if no items are held?
What assets (textures etc) are associated with the UI prefab? Reducing/compressing them would be the first thing to check.
