Hiding the Subtitle Speaker Label When Speaker is None

When utilizing a "Dialogue: Play speech" Action, I would like the "SubsSpeakerLabel" element of the "Subtitles" Menu to be invisible ("Is visible?" == false) if the "Speaker" is set to "None." What might be the best, most reusable way to accomplish this?

  • If the Speaker is set to "none", then the speech line is considered to be narration.

Subtitle menus have filtering options to have them be displayed only for lines that have a speaker, or those that are narration.

Duplicate your Subtitles menu, name the copy Narration, and set its For speakers of type field to Narration Only. Then go back to your Subtitles menu and set the same field to Characters Only.

That will cause the game to show one of the two menus when speech is displayed, based on there being a speaker or not. For the Narration menu, you can then re-style it to suit your needs.

  • That did it! Thank you so much!
