If you change the "Animation Engine" in the "NPC" or "Player" component, the parameter list is not updated anymore. E.g. if the "Animation Engine" is set to "Sprites Unity" and you change it to "Mecanim", the "Sprites Unity" parameters are still shown and no mecanim parameters can be changed. The way around this is to delete the prefab from the scene and reimport it, then the paramter list in the component is updated, but that was not always the case.
