Default values of options data

Here's something that has been confusing to for the longest :)

I just adjusted the speech, music and sfx volumes in the Settings manager, build a publish and then ran it on another computer (which the app has never been ran on before). But on that computer, the settings in-game was not set to what I had specified in the Settings manager but rather to the defaults that the controls get set to when you press the "Reset options data" button.

It's also confusing to me that when I change the settings in-game the values on the Settings manager are also updated. So they are linked to my profile as a player rather than the default values used when people install the app?

Comments

  • It should be both. The values in the Settings Manager are linked to "Profile 0", and also (should) determine the default values for new installs.

Is Enable save game profiles? checked in your Settings Manager?

I will attempt a recreation. Unity version and build platform?

  • Ok.
"Enable save game profiles?" is unchecked.

    AC: 1.69.1
    Unity: 2019.2.5 (PC)

  • I can't recreate such a behaviour. Does Unity's Player Log reveal anything?

  • This was yesterday on someone else's computer so not sure.

  • Options data is stored in PlayerPrefs, so if you clear this from your own machine before playing the build, then it should be the same result.
