Making a physics adventure game

Hi, I really like the game series on the app store "the room" and was wanting to also make a similar style game (Of course with my own ideas/concepts/story) so when I read that adventure creator can make this style, I was super happy because I had previously brought it but hadn't used it yet.
I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction on what I need to read/watch? Like is there a particular video or text or forum post that might be helpful?
I know I'm being broad with my question but I have no idea where to begin. So, please forgive that.
Thanks.

  • Welcome to the community, @owl7.

Yes - the source files for the Physics Demo can be downloaded from that page, which emulates that play style, and the First Person tutorial also delves into physics objects.  Time references for the relevant parts are shown beneath the video.
  • Hi, thanks for the welcome. I have downloaded the source files and will check them out. Do I open/import Adventure creator first into the project then import the source files? I'm still getting used to unity. I will also watch the first person tutorial. Thanks for helping. I actually brought adventure creator a while back (On sale) but hadn't really checked it out because at the same time as buying it I got frustrated with Unity and gave up on it. I looked into alternatives but ended back at Unity, so I decided to check out just what Adventure creator was, it looks awesome and I look forward to learning it.
  • Yes, you'll want to import AC before the project files - be sure to update to the latest AC version first, too.

If you're getting started with Unity as well, though, I'd recommend working through the 2D tutorial first, however: it's better suited for Unity and AC newcomers, as it takes things a little more slowly.  The principles of Hotspots, game logic, NPCs and saving etc are all transferrable between game styles, so you won't have to sit through too much that's not relevant to your own needs.
