Best practice for inventory animations

Hello fellow creators!

This is not a technical question about AC but I was wondering... I want to have simple animations for when items are picked up (basically, show item at the center of the screen, then move it into the inventory box). The best way I know is to handle this is with a custom action, parameters and animation clips for each item. Then it's only a matter of calling the action whenever I pick up an item.
I'm wondering if maybe someone found a way to automate this more (i.e., have the animation happen automatically instead of creating a clip for every item, like using the selected item's sprite and then start a coroutine moving the transform... and have this happen automatically on every "pick up item" interaction).
Has anyone tried something like this?
Any ideas are welcome!
