Which menu type is better

edited August 2019 in Technical Q&A

Hi,
I remember being told that using Unity UI as the AC menu source is better
So I've remade the menu using Unity UI, attached the necessary gameobjects into the AC menu, but now my FPS has tanked by 200 and the profiler is showing massive use of UI
So for performance do I stick with Adventure Creator as the menu source?

Both types have their advantages, but both systems rely on Unity to perform the rendering.

Much depends on just how many menus / elements you have open at any one time, and what UI components you are using. Heavy use of e.g. Outline/Shadow components can impact performance, etc. Disabling different canvas objects at a time may reveal that some are contributing to the FPS drop more than others.

If you can find one in particular that's causing an issue, try then disabling its children in turn - to narrow down which element is problematic.
