Stacking Hotspots

I'm having trouble if two hotspots overlap. I need the entire background to be a hotspot, and then characters sitting on a higher layer to be a hotspot, so that if I click anywhere but character hotspots, I can run an action list. Right now, I've tried making the background a hotspot and a blank image as a hotspot, but even though those are on a lower layer than the characters, that hotspot (since it fills the screen) hides all the other hotspots. Ideas?

  • I'm assuming this is in 2D?

If by "layer" you're referring to a Sprite Renderer's Sorting Layer field, then that won't have an effect. AC doesn't involve renderers when raycasting for Hotspots - but you should find that moving the background Hotspot further away from the camera causes the NPCs to be favoured when hovering over an overlapping area.

  • Changing the Z-axis fixed this. Thanks!
