Save slots labels issue

Not sure if it's bug but it seems to be.

This is about saving with custom labels based on this tutorial: https://www.adventurecreator.org/tutorials/custom-save-game-labels

Saving a slot won't save the name.

Saving a slot deletes name from another save slot
(It's possible to get the name into the slot if right after the saving action the slot is being renamed with the same name)

e.g. saving a third slot deletes the first one if it's not already empty, if yes then it deletes the second one. It's deleteing all previous save slot names.

The last save slot always behaves as "new save" option (even when all slots are being used). When clicked it won't pass the slot name but the "new save" phrase. (all previous slots passes the actual name - if there's any)

Seems like all the actions are done correctly. The input's text is in the saveName variable. The slot index number is correct as well. I could be missing something, but could this possible be a bug?

  • Have you followed the tutorial exactly, or deviated at all?

    I'm not totally following the issues - if you have screenshots to share that help explain, that'll be welcome.

  • The issue with the empty names disappeared over night, have no idea how that happened. It's using Unity UI for styling purposes, but those action lists that is it calling are done based on the tutorial.

    Check this example:

    There's 4 slots. Until they are all being used there's the "new save" option.
    But when they are being all used it should act as a regular save slot but it still gives the "new save" text to the input field instead of the actual save name.

    The actions list that runs is the same for all the slots.

  • So the only issue is now only at the very end of the video?

    Temporarily switch your UI back to Adventure Creator - does it then behave? It's important to know, as it'll help isolate the source of the issue.

    I've created save menus with Adventure Creator and the last slot behaves the same way - it inserts the "new save" text instead.
