AC and Cinema Director - moving NPC ?

Hi,
I hope that I'm not the only one who is trying to use Cinema Director with AC, and that someone here can give me a pointer.

My initial tests using AC and CD together are pretty positive.
The problem I have run into is on how to move a mecanim character around during a cut scene using CD.
I am able to move them using the AC action - even during a CD cut scene - but I'd rather keep cut scene functionality within CD instead of having a mix of both programs involved.

Has anyone here managed to do that?

Thanks!
- Kay

  • This might be a question for the CD team, but I'm assuming you're referring to an AC character here.

I suppose you could create a "CD only" instance of the same character, so that it only appears to be the same one the AC uses.

However, you can also disable AC's control over a character by setting their Motion control field to Manual.  This may allow CD to take control over it (though I'm not privy to how CD exactly works).  I'd suggesting testing that change, and then we can see about a script that changes it dynamically when CD begins/ends.
  • Hi Chris,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes, I am talking about an AC NPC character with the NPC script applied.
I will try your suggestions and report back.
  • After taking a good hard look into this issue, I finally realized that Cinema Director has become somewhat obsolete with the advent of Unity 2017 and the new timeline.
Just in case anyone else was wondering about this.

And I sure am glad to see that Chris has already provided support for this new Unity feature! :)
