Optional override for speaker name

Although speaker name works great I'm running into a small issue as I have more than one copy of players and npc's so they can have a different outfits.  In most cases the default speaker name is perfect but I would like option to display a different name.  I realize I could do that by using a global var but I only want to do an exception otherwise I would have to set the var every time a char speaks.  Any suggestions?
