Inventory Box - unity UI - button image limitation?

We need to have Inventory Icons with 2 images - a backround and a front image (the changing inventory icon)
both images must be activated and deactivated from regular inventory use.

But AC always targets parent image (the backround)  as "source"/icon image.

Would it be possible to have AC use the "target graphic " from the button script to use as Inventory Icon? a not (what it seems like) always using parent image?

Is this already possible?
