Text in variable not updated

I have a string that I am referring in a menu like [var:24] this works, I have a trigger that changes this variable, it changes inside the ac game editor->variables window. But it does not update in the menu. So the even though the string is set correctly, when the menu shows, it shows the original text in the string variable and not the current text. This appeared to work yesterday so I am not sure what has gone wrong here?

Are you using the default language or a translation?  Where, exactly, is the token written, and what is the Variable's type?

Hey it looks like it was related to my translation issue, so this too is now fixed, Awesome, sorry for the mass of questions I am back to AC hardcore making all my missions, really fun stuff.
