Loading a Autosafe from the Main Menu

Hello everyone,

Im new in Unity3D and do not get any further. I have a Scene with a UI-Menu. I can start other Scenes with it but when i do this, the In-Game Menu in the scene wont start. Besides i cant continue a Autosafe from the Menu. How can i connect my Menu with the Adventure Creator Menu Manager? Or how can i make a Main Manu with the Manager? So that i can save my game in every Scene and load it from the Main Menu?

Regards
Kevin

  • In order to give specific help, we'll need to know more detail about what exactly you've done so far - screenshots and detail will help a lot here.

There are, however, several tutorials related to the menu system here - including ones for title-screen menus and linking the menu system to Unity UI.

However, I would recommend relying on AC's built-in menu system (setting a Menu's Source to Adventure Creator) to get the functionality the way you want it, and only then connect it to a Unity UI once it's working correctly.

To appear in-game, you can set a Menu's Appear type to During Gameplay, or Manual and check Enabled on start?.  Mid-game, you can use the Menu: Change state Action to lock/unlock/show/hide your Menus.  If the Menu you're talking about is only supposed to appear in one scene, I would recommend the Manual option so that you have total control over its display.

Providing save and load menus is a case of creating SavesList elements in your Menu, which will display a list of save games - and you can then choose if clicking them saves or loads your current game.  The default Demo_MenuManager asset includes such Menus that you can learn from.

In your Main Menu, you can create a Button element to access your Load Menu from by having two Menu: Change state Actions run when clicked - one to turn off the Main Menu (if desired), and another to turn on the Load Menu.

I hope this information helps, but if not - please let us know a bit more about what it is you've done that isn't working, and we'll be happy to help further.
