NavMeshSegments and Sloping Ground

edited August 2014 in Technical Q&A
I have a flat surface and then a downwards slope. When I add the NavMeshSegment to the slope I angled it to follow the slope downwards, is this right?

The problem is is that the player won't go down the slope - he just continues at the same height he was at previously, thus making it appear that he's hovering. I've changed the Gravity and Mass settings to no avail.

On a side note, I've noticed that the height placement of the PlayerStart marker can make a difference to the distance to the ground the player is to the NavMesh.

Comments

  • So long as your player is affected by gravity, he'll obey any Colliders underneath him.  Do the colliders slope downward as well?
  • He's affected by gravity and the colliders slope, yes.
  • I'm referring to the gravity checkbox in the Player script, rather than the Rigidbody, just in case.

If in doubt, set your player prefab to Tin Pot, the demo game's player - he should always work and is good to test with.
