variables are not set

I am at a complete loss, in all of my previous projects I was able to set a variable (any one bool, int,..) but in my new project I cannot set any global variables at all. After checking the difference in Variable Managers I found out the change is under Var Presets where the Update Runtime was not set . Why does a new Project set this radio button off??? what is the reason for having it unticked ?

  • Variables will still be set, but if "Show realtime values?" is off, then they won't be shown in the Variables Manager.  Are you saying that they aren't being set in-game?
  • I don't know about "Show Real time values" I mean if I take a look at the Variables Manager  with the Inspector I see "Update Runtime " and that was unticked when I created a new project after your  latest 1.49 version. This meant that cariables were NOT SET but they are shown in the Variable Manager

Where are you seeing "Update Runtime "?  I'm afraid I'm having trouble understanding what you mean exactly.  I apologise for your frustration, but I'm here to help.  Please post screenshots to illustrate the problem, and I'll do what I can.

"Show realtime values?" is at the very top of the Variables Manager.
  • No, I mean opening up the Variable Manager in the Inspector it shows:

    • script: VariableaManager
    • Vars
    • Var Preset
    • Update Runtime  ( this was not ticked)

It only happened when I creted a new project and normally in all my previous projects was ticked.

  • OK.  It's never checked by default, but I shall see that new managers created from now on are.  I assume that, having checked it, it's working for you now?
  • Yes it is.
