2D box collider shrinks when NPC follows

I'm using an empty game object to store all my stuff for the npc, but it seems like the box shrinks when he moves around. Though, under close inspection, I'm certain the 2D box gets turn on its side as none of the 2D measurement changes, but the npc does change his rotation. How can I stop this from happening or reset the rotation whenever an npc stops moving?

  • Attach the empty to the sprite child.  The root object will rotate in 3D space, while the 2D sprite child will remain fixed facing the camera.
