Give action doesn't work for some reason

I was excited to see this in 1.41! hurrried up and changed all the Use to Give for all the NPC's. then tried it out in the game and it doesn't work.

here's a screenshot.

when i hover with the item on the NPC the action is still "use"

Looking forward to hearing about it when you get back Chris. Any one else managed to get this working? might be my interaction settings

This only happens in the single use inventory. when i changed to multiple and defined the select as  "give" it worked.
