You'd have to create two menus - one for "closed", another for "open". By being smart with turning one on, another off, and panning the right difference, you'd create the effect. It'd be a cheat, of course, but it'd still be the same menu, so far as the player is concerned.
It's a litte bit of a hassle this method. i've tried just making one that doesn't move but just locks as soon the the other menu is open but it feels a lieetle chooppy.. also until you add the adctionlist for when the top menu closes it will be impossible to add it back in.
