I'm running into an issue where the isTalking animation plays even when the character is only saying "..." or other "empty lines". Is there a way to exclude these cases?

Have you check the Action's Don't animate speaker? option?
Ohh yes, I forgot about this option. But it is only possible for a specific Character and not for "Active Player". Is there a way to make this option available for "Active Player" too? Because some lines will be said by multiple characters.
I'm not sure of your meaning - the above option is a part of the Action, so it will apply to whichever character is speaking.
If it's a Player line and you only want it to apply to specific characters, you'd need to make only spoken by those characters, preceding the Action with a Player: Check to ensure it doesn't get spoken by others.
I meant that the "Don't animate Speaker" option only appears when you've selected a specific character. It disappears as soon as I select the "Active Player" option.
Just to be sure: We are talking about the Action Dialogue: Play speech → Don't animate Speaker, right?
Another small problem I've also noticed is that the player briefly "twitches" for 1 frame and goes into the isTalking animation when the option "Don't animate Speaker" is active. As if something is wrong in the order of operations. It seems like isTalking switches on as soon as the Dialogue starts and then the "Don't animate Speaker" boolean kicks in and it gets switched off again quickly. So just one or two frames. Do you have any idea how we can get rid of this?

I'm not seeing this issue on my end. What's your AC version? If you're using an older release, I suspect that this is an issue with the visibility of the option only - if you temporarily show it and check it, then it will still be effective when hidden.
What animation engine does the character use?
We are using and older Adventure Creator Version1.83.0. But I will update it to the latest version soon.
