Issue updating Adventure Creator v1.57b to latest version

Hi Chris,

I hope you're doing well! I'm working on reviving one of my old Adventure Creator projects that was originally built in Unity 2019. I successfully upgraded the project to Unity 6000.3.8f1 but ran into issues when trying to update Adventure Creator.

The project is currently using AC version 1.57b, and when I attempt to update to the latest version of Adventure Creator, the game breaks, and I receive a lot of red errors.

Given that many changes have likely occurred since version 1.57b, I'm unsure if updating to the latest version is even feasible without a complete overhaul of the project. Do you think it's possible to update this project without too many issues, or would it be better to approach this differently?

  • Naturally, the bigger the gap between versions, the more difficult an upgrade jump is - and v1.57b is several years old.

The "Upgrade notes" sections in the Changelog list any changes made that you may need to be aware of, but if you'd like to share the actual error messages you're getting we can see if they're surmountable.

  • Hi Chris,
These are the errors that occurred following the update: https://prnt.sc/qrGnwHtQ8jMK

The two script errors reference Actions for integrations with SLATE and Cinema Director. Both of these have since been moved to the AC wiki, and the original Actions, which are no longer part of AC's package, should be removed.

Delete these two files to remove the errors:

    • Assets/AdventureCreator/Scripts/Actions/ActionCinemaDirector
    • Assets/AdventureCreator/Scripts/Actions/ActionSLATE
  • Thank you, Chris. These errors have been resolved after I deleted those files. I will now look into the remaining errors.
