Reusing an AC Project as a Template – Best Way to Remove Old Dialogue?

Hi Chris,

I’ll soon be starting planning and prototyping for my next AC project. My intention is to use my current game (built with Adventure Creator) as a base template, since everything is already customised and set up the way I like.

My only concern is the dialogue text — particularly regarding localisation.

I’m worried that keeping the old game’s dialogue text in the project might cause issues later when I start translating the new game. I don’t want old and new lines to get mixed together in the translation files.

What would be the proper way to completely remove all existing dialogue from the project in a clean way?

I could manually go through each scene and delete old conversation assets and ActionLists, but that would take a very long time. Is there a more efficient or recommended workflow for clearing out dialogue while keeping the rest of the AC setup intact?

Best,

Backing up first, the Speech Manager's "Reset text" should undo changes made by the "Gather text" button - searching your game's projects and clearing any translation IDs that it finds.

    Congrats on your game's release!

  • Thank you, Chris. <3
