Automatic size issue

I'm pulling the names for the buttons on the bottom from variables, but they don't resize correctly. If I set the hotspot menu to resize on every frame, it works but as the note says, may be cpu intensive, and the issue shows only in this one menu.

The buttons at the bottom have no other purpose but to show the names of the ingredients. The buttons on the top change the ingredients & variables.

  • To make sure I'm understanding your screenshot: the issue is with the Hotspot menu that overlay the Recipe menu, not the Recipe menu itself?

    Are you using tokens to reference the variable? As the content is dynamic, and - I'm presuming - changes when hovering over each of the icons, then the Resize every frame? is likely necessary unless you remove any automatic Size behaviour for both the Hotspot menu and label, i.e. set it to Manual and make it wide enough to fit any text.

    A single Menu with this option shouldn't be an issue, however, and you can also replace it with a separate Hotspot menu that doesn't have this option checked when this Recipe menu is not shown.

    The alternative would be to use Unity UI to render the Menu.

  • Yes the problem is only with the hotspot menu. The content is dynamic and referenses tokens.

    As long as there's not a noticeable performance loss with the resizing on every frame only on the one menu, I might as well use that.

    Incase there is any issues with that, I'd like to know how to have a duplicate hotspot menu that only shows on the recipe menu?

  • Nvm just keeping the duplicate locked and unlocking on this menu and locking the original is the way I think?
