Question around importing sprites

edited February 3 in Technical Q&A

Hi,

I'm not sure if I'm missing an important step somewhere, but when I import sprites, they refuse to be added to the Animation timeline unless I first open the Sprite Editor and move the pivot (even if I don't need to move the pivot).

Is there something I'm not doing (like enabling something when importing the sprites)? I remember hearing in one of the tutorials that the pivot is supposed to automatically align to the bottom-centre by default, but mine always import with it in the centre, so I'm wondering if this is related to the problem?

  • There's a chance I've figured out the problem to this and hopefully it could help others. In the Inspector tab, my Sprite mode was set to 'Multiple' - which I thought was correct for dealing for more than one image.

But when I changed this setting to 'Single', it opened up the option to alter the pivot position. This worked when I had 60 sprites selected at the same time.

To me this is totally back-to-front, but it worked so I'm not complaining. I can now drag and drop all those 60 sprites into the animation timeline without the arduous chore of going through every sprite and manually changing the pivot point.

  • Yes, it does seem that Sprites do default to Multiple mode which can be confusing.

This is Unity's built-in behaviour, however, and not something AC can control.

  • Hi Chris - yes I should have said that it's a Unity quirk rather than any fault of AC :)
