I'm getting Steam achievements working in my game and just wondering, does the Steam Manager object/script need to be in every scene in which the action is used to unlock an achievement, or is it only used for the first scene of your game (Main Menu in my case)?

That'd be a question for Steam, but I'd expect it'd need to be present throughout.
This doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be added to every scene manually, however - if you add it to AC's PersistentEngine prefab, or add it to a custom EventSystem prefab assigned in the Menu Manager, it'll survive scene changes automatically.
