Join the Spooky Crew and uncover the secret of the Mask of the Mysterium in this point and click adventure game. An encounter with a masked figure leads the crew to investigate the secrets of a local museum.
Classic adventure gameplay that isn’t stuck in the nostalgic past. Modern twists like different ways to approach puzzles and multiple endings update the formula and keep the game moving along without the player getting stuck and bored.
The Mask of the Mysterium is the pilot episode of a planned ongoing series of shorter games with a focus on tight pacing while still retaining a sense of freedom and rewarding the player for experimentation.

MEET THE CREW

Alyssa
The tattoo of a magnifying glass on her arm is dedicated to her lifelong commitment to unravelling mysteries. Alyssa cracks cases with a, mostly, thoughtful and considered approach.

Ethyl
A robot built for mystery solving. Ethyl’s analytical skills prove to be essential in almost every case the Spooky Crew take on.

Hector
Hector’s passion for mysteries is matched only by his recklessness. There is nothing he won’t do to get to the bottom of things.

Bert
A kangaroo in a man suit? A man in a kangaroo suit? Who knows really. All we know is that he’s dedicated to solving mysteries. Probably. Only his life companion, Hector, seems able to understand him.

  • I've just released a new demo 🦇Spooky Crew: Mask of the Mysterium🦇

It shows off the all-new verb interface. I previously was using a simple one-click for all interactions style of interface.

    Why did I change it?
🦇 It allows more personality and jokes through additional dialogue and easter eggs. More opportunity for "juicy" game design. More stuff for the player to try. More character and world development.
🦇 I've received feedback from publishers and PR that the game wasn't clearly an adventure game in screenshots so adventure game fans would look past it. I've also had consistent feedback that nobody is going to touch adventure games, no one is going to buy one and I'm wasting my time making one. So 🤷
🦇 I just love the LucasArts classics and on reflection I liked the verb interface the best of all. I like how immediate is it, it puts the adventure gaming and puzzle solving right out front. At 320x200 it really did take up too much screen real estate so I understand why they changed, but on today's larger screens and higher resolutions I think it can work.

There are four playable characters you can switch between and they all have their own unique verbs.
    Agent Alyssa
Alyssa can "contemplate mystery" where she will think about the progress of the case and the options the player has to continue.

    Private Eye Ethyl
Ethyl can "fire lasers at" where she fires her laser eye guns at anything you point her at.

    Inspector Hector
Hector loves to "eat" and you can try eating everything in the game with varying results.

    Detective Bert
Bert can "jump on" and "kick" everything in sight.

Demo is available on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2463610/Spooky_Crew_Mask_of_the_Mysterium/

I'd really love it if I could get some people to give the demo a go and provide some feedback/bug reports! I really need the help!
