I've got a book in my player inventory and by examining it, a player switch occurs to an invisible player in a 'book-scene'. But when I switch back to the actual player in the previous scene, the camera no longer follows him. I don't use local player characters, what could be the problem here? Anything I should post here for clarity?

Make sure that the active GameCamera has a Constant ID component attached - this'll be necessary to record which camera to re-assign when loading save data.
See the Manual's "Saving scene objects" chapter for details - this process can also be automated.
Thanks Chris, I added the constant ID to the game camera in all scenes, that did the trick.
