Videoplayer StreamingAssets URL

I'm sure this is a question about Unity in general but I can't for the life of me work out the relative URL for the local video files stored in StreamingAssets so they play on the recipient's system (Windows, in this case).

I have my mp4 videos in the StreamingAssets folder (video001.mp4, video002.mp4 etc). Now, I can use the video component's 'Browse' button and select the video file, no problem, but that is an absolute path to the file specific on MY system so it wouldn't work for others.

I've tried /StreamingAssets/Video001.mp4, file:///StreamingAssets/Video001.mp4 etc but I can't get it to work.

How do I enter a relative path/URL for files stored and distributed in the StreamingAssets folder?

It seems like such an easy thing to figure out but I just can't get it to work.

  • You're right, AC isn't involved here.

You're better off asking on the Unity forums, but I'd expect that - since StreamingAssets is a requirement - it's not required in the URL field. The filename alone should be enough.
