Subtitle does not appear for [expression] tag texts.

Hey,
I have come across a weird issue - that is the subtitles for specific texts with [expression] tag does not appear. Although. the correct animation and audio plays.

I would need to see the exact text you're using - can you share screenshots of the speech Action and your Subtitle menu's properties?

Also, what are your AC and Unity versions, and do any relevant messages appear in the Console window?

The menu in your screenshots is set to only display for the character named "VideoSubtitles", which doesn't match the speaker in the Action, Hilde.

If you have a separate Subtitles menu that is set to display this speaker's lines, are you saying that the menu is hidden, but shows if you remove the expression tag?

The expression tag only appears in the translation - are you playing the speech using this language?

Bear in mind also that the Subtitles option must be checked for a Subtitles menu to display if it has associated audio. You can force the menu to show regardless by checking "Ignore Subtitles option?" in its properties - does that cause it to then show?

Oh sorry that was for video subtitles. Here is the menu option for correct subtitles - Imgur.

• The expression tag is in every translation. The screenshot is of only English translation.

Which language are you running the game in, and does the "Ignore Subtitles option?" have an effect?

Please share your Speech Manager's subtitle settings, as well as the Inspector for the character assigned in the Action.

Does this only occur for lines that begin with an expression tag, or is it also for lines that have the tag in the middle?

In a backup/duplicate project, import the latest AC release and test if the issue remains.

• No, Ignore Subtitles option does not have any effect.
• Speech manager subtitle settings : Imgur

• It occurs for both scenarios with the tag in the middle and at the beginning of the line.

Also, just to point it out, just found out that this does not occurs for the lines when the tag is at the end of the line. And the expression plays correctly too.
So apparently in this line (Imgur) the subtitle only displays "I knew your parents." and does not show anything after the expression tag.

What were the results of updating to AC v1.74.2?
