Gameplay testing workflow

Hey,
i want to ask how do you guys test the gameplay? Do you start every time from the beginning? did you set variables for the inventory and so on to test the game?

  • I make a kind of dev menu that I can bring up, with buttons that will bring me to certain parts of the game, with certain things in the inventory and certain variables in certain states. It's not fool proof since a lot of the time I forget to set inventory items and variables, which causes "bugs" that only exists when I use the dev menu, but not when playing the game through normally.

    Best I can come up with, though, works well enough! :)
