Question about switching QTE Animators/Displaying Alternative Animations (Hit, Win, Lose)

  • Is that to say the Menu turns off completely?

    Open up AC's ActionQTE script and comment out the line:

    menu.TurnOff (true);

    Does that cause the Menu to remain on screen, and the Win/Lose states to show?

    I can confirm that "Win" and "Lose" do appear after commenting out the line. I've updated both engines to the latest version. Aside from the menu.TurnOff (true);, the other issues I'm noticing is the controller variable with link to animator and transitions AnyState don't seem to trigger the alternate set of animations (controller).

  • Is that a case of the variable's value not being set, or the parameter not syncing with it?

  • https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Fah4tyCkAR-jsdeb4A8GIhKvUGpY4yBP/view?usp=sharing here's a video of the occurance with "Custom Script" set on the variable (Link to) and Here's with it set to None https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dcB4vzC-0AauICTR80fxACkZbCPHu3ww/view?usp=sharing - In both cases the parameter doesn't seem to be syncing, the only difference being with none the variable updates accordingly. Also, in both cases you can see that I manually enable the Hit trigger and the animation swithes to the alternate.

  • Your cursor appears to be hidden in the video - I'm not sure what you're manually changing.

    If the variable's Link to field is set to None, the connection will be one-way - i.e. the variable will update the Animator parameter, and not the other way around. Leave it as this for this case.

    If the parameter's value is True in the Animator, and the wrong animation still plays, it may be an Animator issue rather than one to do with AC. Try renaming your "Hit" animation state (not the Trigger) to something else to be sure it isn't being referenced by name directly, but otherwise it may just be to do with the transitions - though I don't see what the issue might be from the videos.

  • I've given up on integrating the controller variable in t he aniamtor. I'll just create separate alternates. My main concern is the main animations hit, win, lose not playing correctly. Is this occurring due to the "menu.TurnOff (true);" you mentioned earlier?

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MfXX8Z96CQWbEEuYZWtw9d5BWFOM3S4W/view?usp=sharing <- this is the optimal setup that seems to work with all types of QTEs, I think the main reason you couldn't reproduce my issue is because the animations seem to act differently based on the type of QTE triggered. I was having issues with "Button Mash" but it worked fine in Single Keypress. Another thing to keep in mind (at least what I've noticed) is that the "Lose" animation seems to play very fast, regardless of settings, and the longer it is, the more likely it is not to play when you fail a QTE (granted this may be due to user error and incorrectly setting up the transition). I think all these factors contributed to the confision. Hopefully the image I added ccan help others if they encounter this issue.
