Text Mesh Pro Typewriter Effect + Rich Text Colour Tags Issue

Hi,

I'm just getting started on my next game and am kicking things off with the subtitles, and have found what appears to be an issue with the Text Mesh Pro Typewriter effect option (toggleable in the AC Menu Manager) and colour rich text tags.

Basically, when the line of text completes typing in, the colour tags are stripped from the dialogue line.

Ideally I want to use them to really 'pop' my bold text to convey critical game info.

KEY INFO
Unity Version: 6000.0.58f2
AC Version: v1.84.3

REPRO STEPS
I have through it in a video that you can watch here.

A text overview would be:-

  • I've created a new Unity UI subtitle menu
  • I'm using Text Mesh Pro
  • I have rich text colour tags in my example line
  • I'm using the TMPro Typewriter checkbox in the Menu Manager
  • I have speech set to scroll in the Speech Manager
  • It looks like the rich text colour tags are being stripped from the dialogue line when the typewriter effect completes

Apologies if I'm doing something stupid.
Many thanks,
Alex

Comments

  • Thanks Alex, I'll follow the repro steps and see what's up. Most likely an issue with AC.

    Welcome back!

  • Just tried this, but can't reproduce such an issue.

Could you PM me your Managers, Subtitles UI prefab, and Sample Scene?

  • Done, thanks for the assistance.

You need to close tags at the end of their intended reach:

    Strange. There's loads of <color=#fda10f><b>framed portraits</b></color>, but I can't see any <i>actual</i> cats here?

  • Gak. Thanks for that Chris. I though the second color tag would take care of that but that makes sense.
