Dialogue System Customization

Good morning fellas!

I was wondering if there is any way to customise and/automate the dialogue process. Let me explain, I am considering using a system that might look like the Lucasarts or Pendulo Studios, subtitles over the character + custom color. I am sorry but I am not a fan of the default one :|

I've been checking the forum and different sources on Google and it looks like there is an option to set this dialogue option somehow in the Settings, however I am not able to find it, either in AC Game Editor>Setting/Speech.

Regarding the color, I found this example on internet '<color=blue>Blue text'. However, I find it not really practical. Do we have any way to set a color to one character and if that one is speaking automatically the desired color will be applied?

Thanks in advance.

  • You can alter the way subtitles display by modifying the Subtitles menu, within the Menu Manager.

The Menu's Source is set to Adventure Creator, it's a case of tweaking the fields within the Menu Manager itself - and previewing them in the Game window.

If the Source is instead set to Unity Ui Prefab, style changes are made by modifying the Menu's Linked Canvas Prefab, a Unity UI prefab that the Menu will update the contents of at runtime.

More details on the Menu can be found in the Manual's "Menus overview" chapter. A nicer-looking speech bubble UI, however, can be found on the Downloads page.
