Hey! I have scene where a character needs to walk differently and have a lantern. Is there any possibility change the walk cycle with an action script? or do I need to duplicate the player and change it in the middle of the game and just have different animations inside it?

This is for a 2D game? What is your character's "Animation engine" set to?
If Sprites Unity, you can use the Character: Animate Action to change the names of your idle/walk/run etc animations (from e.g. "Walk" to "LanternWalk").
So long as a set of animations are present that use the correct naming convention (e.g. LanternWalk_R, LanternWalk_D), the character will then play those animations instead.
