reusable reading menu

I am trying to design a menu that could be used to show texts player reads in documents or signs etc. It should open when examining a document or sign and show the text in clear and translatable form. I was thinkin of creating buttons inside a menu and then turning them on and off when needed - I could then also add an action list to it. Or would there be another more elegant way?

  • Documents can be defined in the Inventory Manager, and then displayed in Journal elements inside Menus that have an "Appear type" of "On View Documents".

Such a menu can be used for any Document that is viewed using the Document: Open Action.

See the Manual's "Documents" chapter for more details on this topic.

  • Hmm. Would there be an easy way to have more texts and textures in a page? And to have some control when they are visible?

  • A wiki script that allows for images to be displayed alongside Document pages can be found here.

If you're looking to embed text and images more closely, you'll otherwise have to either incorporate each page into an image, so that the text is embedded in the texture, or rely on Unity UI so that you can control the appearance of each component through animation.
