Usually a Null Reference Exception happens when some script or function is trying to access an asset which does not exist. It's totally not normal and probably means something very wrong is going on.
Try re-importing the AC asset package and double check you have updated it to the very latest version. Watch out when re-importing or updating that your own project managers don't get overwritten by the demo ones. If they do then you need to drop each correct manager back into the AC Managers slot at the top of each AC manager section (ie: Scene/Settings/Actions/Variables/Inventory/Speech/Cursor/Menu)
It's possible you have accidentally moved or erased something of your own assets as well so double check that everything you have made is where you expect it to be.
