Small player movement during repeated hotspot interactions

Sometimes I see the player is moving a bit after clicking a hotspot, even if the player is already positioned at the "walk to marker". So let's say a hotspot has a Look and a Pick interaction defined, both using the same walk to marker. When I click the first the player moves to the marker which is fine, but (sometimes) when I click Pick he moves a little bit again which looks kinda twisty and awkward. The hotspots all have the checkbox to turn according to the marker checked.

I'm guessing this is possibly related to navmesh precision? If that's the case it would be great to have a special case for when hotspots are triggered after the player has already moved into position.

Thanks

  • Maybe if we could specify a minimum movement limit, so if the calculated movement is less than it, it would be ignored.

There is - it's the "Destination accuracy" slider in the Settings Manager.

I would need a repro package that demonstrates the issue, otherwise. When dealing with precision movement, though, much of it depends on your scene's scale and game-wide settings.

  • If I undersand "Destination accuracy" correctly (and my experiments seem to suggest this is true), a higher value would actually lead to more occurrences of the mentioned issue, and lowering it would make precision worse when actually walking to a hotspot. If that's the case, then maybe a minimum walk limit might still be something to consider.

I would say that would likely be too confusing, but I must still have real-world values to test with.
