Pitch rotation on 3rd person camera not resetting

I have a 3rd person camera following my player using direct control. When I move forward using "limited" pitch rotation I can get my camera to move up to the Maximum angle. But when I stop moving it does not return to the Minimum pitch angle.

Maddeningly, this was initially working as I wanted, but I'm pretty sure that something I did tinkering with the input manager may have inadvertently screwed up this behavior.

What settings are normally responsible for resetting the pitch rotation?

  • The pitch input name is configured in the camera's Inspector.

I'm not quite sure of your meaning, though. Are you looking to change the pitch automatically, or through input? And is this with the standard 3rd-person camera, or the advanced one in the Downloads section?

Any screenshots you can share to illustrate the problem would be appreciated.

  • Thanks, I'll attach some screenshots when I get back to my dev computer. It's the standard third person camera. I had everything working well, then briefly tried to get my PS4 controller working in Unity's input manager, then after I switched back to keyboard and mouse, suddenly my pitch no longer resets when I stop moving.

By working well, I had it so that when I hit the "w" key the camera pitch would slowly move to a slight (40 degree) overhead view, and when i stood still it would reset to behind the character's back. Now it just stays in the overhead view. I'll get screenshots of my camera and input settings and my desired behavior (which I previously compiled, but didn't back up, ugh)

  • The Advanced Third Person Camera is actually a better alternative to what I had, and the pitch behavior on that camera seems to work intuitively. Thanks for the tip.
