Touch Controls

Hi,

I've grapped Adventure Creator during the madness sale. I've watched the 2D tutorial, and a part of 3D tutorial and it looks pretty great!

However, since my main objective is creating something on mobile like 'White Island' I am wondering if it's possible to do use/inspect more suitable for touch controls like white island?

I mean it's easier for touch screen users to select the use or select the inspect icon, then press on the hotspot.

Thanks for advance.

  • Welcome to the community, @stranger.

In your Settings Manager, make sure that your Input method is set to Touch Screen, your Interaction method is set to Choose Interaction Then Hotspot.  This will give you the same interaction style as the old e.g. LucasArts verb games or later Kings Quest games, whereby you first click a word/icon and then the Hotspot you wish.  More can be read on this mode in Section 5.1 of the Manual.

You'll then need to define the words/icons you want the player to choose from within the Cursor Manager.  This mode usually involves changing the active interaction mode by right-clicking the mouse, but you can instead rely on clicking/touching icons by creating a new Menu that displays them.

In your Menu Manager, you can create a new Menu that sits at the bottom of the screen, with an Appear type of During Gameplay.  You can then fill it with Interaction elements - and associate each one with a different interaction as defined in the Cursor Manager.  When the player taps one of these elements, that particular interaction mode will then be selected.

Menus are a little more of an advanced topic, so you may find these tutorials helpful.
