Brain character not active in 1.53

I have been using the Brain character in some of my scenes without a problem but when I installed AC 1.53 Brain disappeared in all of them. In order to bring him up I just copied AdventureCreator/Demo/models/chars folder from the previous AC version to my present 1.53 scenes and there he was !!

Any reason why?

  • Brain was converted to a Mecanim-based character with new animations and graphics as part of the 3D Demo update in v1.52.  If your previous version was from before then, that'll be why.

    You can safely exclude the Demo folder when importing v1.53 and later versions.
  • Sorry Chris but this is like saying: "I have a spot in my jacket how do I remove it? and the answer  is: remove the jacket"

    I only have Brain in my scenes to stand idle and to sit down and I know about Mecanim, what do I have to do or learn to adopt my scenes to the new Brain instead of the other way around?


  • As you'd only use Brain as a placeholder I was presuming it didn't matter how he was animated or looked.

    But I was mistaken - Brain isn't now Mecanim, it was Tin Pot that was converted.  Brain has only had his model changed.  This did change his rig, however, and I've found that Unity will often "hide" a character model in a prefab when this happens.  If you're using your own NPC prefab, you'll have to either rebuild it or make use of the pre-made one provided in /Assets/AdventureCreator/Demo/NPCs.

    If you wish to rebuildh him, you can place his model file in a new scene and transfer over the components from your old one to the new one, and update the prefab.
