Player NavMesh 2d tutorial problem

edited October 2015 in Technical Q&A
Hi there,
I've just started the 2d tutorial, and I've run into an issue pretty early on.
Using Unity 5.2.1f1 and the latest Adventure Creator.

What's happening is my player is walking outside of the NavMesh, and doing some pretty weird stuff. I've started from scratch twice to see if I missed something, but no luck.
Also, the TreeHole collider seems to have a strange shape when looking at the scene editor (it doesn't look like the tutorial... not sure why).
I've made a quick video to show the issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

  • This is strange. lol. Personaly, I've never seen this before.

Can I see image of your settings tab.

and also an image of the sorting map?

    Maybe its one of them...
  • Check your Player's sprite position - it needs to be 0,0,0 in the Transform component.  If it's offset, set it to zero and set the sprite's pivot to Bottom, so that it then appears correct in the scene - the pivot can be changed in the sprite file's Inspector.
  • Hi klarax and ChriscleBox,
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

It turned out to be the Transform's position was not 0,0,0. I had reset the transform of the player object, but not the sprite... well I had, but in the video after the reset is done, Brain is dragged away from the tree again so you can see him - what I didn't notice was that the My Player object was selected and not the sprite. So "doh". Maybe something to point out in a future tutorial.

    Thanks so much!
    Greg
