Hello again,

I'm stuck with this right now. Basically I am using two triggers for NPCs in my game. Each has a unique Input : Toggle Active - Active Input. Both also has a unique on update action list. They have the same button which is InteractionA. What happens is when Player triggers with NPC1, and then tries to trigger NPC 2 - it will reference the trigger of NPC 1 instead and player would walk and use the logic of NPC1 (I want it to use the logic of NPC 2).

I tried fixing it by having two different buttons for each - InteractionA & InteractionB. This worked but I want it to be the same button - InteractionA. Is there any way to fix this?

I am using Direct movement method, Context sensitive as the interaction method. Also I noticed that whichever is higher on the hierarchy of Active Inputs Window, that's the logic or onupdate action list that the player will follow.

I'm a relatively new developer and have been pouring hours of my time learning about Unity and all its features. And AC really makes it a hell of a lot easier, but unity keeps making it really hard for me to consider using it. They have also added an option to use generative AI for some reason.

The only reason that is stopping me from using Godot is the lack of tools like AC.

The future is not really looking very bright for unity. What do you guys think ?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently looking for a few freelance collaborators to help bring my latest project to life — a fully reimagined 3D horror adventure built in Unity using Adventure Creator.

The Project:
It’s called Mystery House, and it’s a spiritual successor to the 1980 Roberta Williams classic — redesigned from the ground up as a fully immersive, real-time experience with puzzle logic, branching dialogue, character interactions, and procedural elements. Think classic murder mystery with a modern, psychological horror twist.

Who I Am:
I was the producer of Colossal Cave 3D (the official VR/3D remake with Ken & Roberta Williams), and this new project is my first solo production since then. I’ve been in the adventure game world for a while now, both in dev and publishing roles, and I’m looking to build a tight, passionate team for this next chapter.

Who I’m Looking For:

Adventure Creator experts (logic, variable setup, inventory, etc.)

Dialogue system & branching logic pros

UI/UX designers for in-game menus, dialogue windows, etc.

Possibly character animator or environment setup help

Teaser Trailer:
We just dropped our first teaser — check it out here:
👉

If you’re available and experienced with AC, I’d love to hear from you. Drop a reply here or DM me with your portfolio and availability. or email me iguillotine@mac.com

Thanks and looking forward to collaborating!

Seeking Advice from Experienced Game Developers!

Hey everyone!

I work in IT/AI, but I’ve always loved games and wanted to make them. Problem is, I don’t know anyone in the industry, and after 2-3 years of learning on my own, I still feel like a beginner. And honestly… I get why! There’s just so much to learn—art, animation, coding, sound, game design—any one of these could take years to master.

But recently, I bought Adventure Creator, and… wow. The creator clearly knows everything—art, animation, effects, how different games work—and packed it all into a tool (more like an engine on top of an engine!). Even crazier? This thing’s been around for 10 years and keeps getting updates and evolve!

So I gotta ask @ChrisIceBox and all indie developer:

How did you learn all this? Did you study everything one by one, or was it just years of experience?

Are you a solo dev or a team? To @ChrisIceBox : Your forum replies make it seem like you know every part of game dev inside out! It is not like human can do! It is crazy!

Any tips for beginners like me? I’m good at coding, but game dev feels huge and overwhelming. Where should I focus?

Really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

We’ve been thinking of ways to give back to the AC community, which has been incredibly supportive and helpful for such a long time. While this probably doesn’t come close to repaying the hard work and dedication shown by people like @ChrisIceBox, we hope it’s a small step in the right direction.

We’ve added a “Made With Adventure Creator” splash screen for our game, and we’re sharing the sprite sheet for anyone who wants to use it. The resolution is 240x144, and it can be upscaled 8x for 1080p.

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for realistic estimates on how long it takes to develop a 2D point-and-click adventure/story driven puzzle game with adventure creator per hour of gameplay.

Assumptions:
* Game design document & story are ready
* All graphics are available
* Development environment: Unity with Adventure Creator
* Scope: single player game, 16 rooms with puzzles and NPCs – The game world consists of 16 unique areas, each featuring interactive puzzles and NPCs with distinct personalities, quests, and dialogue. The rooms are designed with hidden clues, interactive objects, and environmental storytelling, encouraging exploration and problem-solving. Players may revisit areas to unlock new paths or solutions as they progress.
* Target gameplay length: 3-4 hours
* Planned release platforms: Steam, Google Play, iOS

Team:
Developer 1: Extensive experience with Scratch/MIT App Inventor (hundreds of projects), some experience with Unity, some tutorials with adventure creator, computer science background (degree).
Developer 2 (to be hired): Experienced game developer.

Dev time available:
* 50 hours per week (25h per developer)
* 1-year development timeline

Given these conditions, is it realistic to complete the game within a year?
How long would you estimate it takes to develop 1 hour of gameplay for this type of game?
What are the biggest time sinks we should watch out for?

Would love to hear insights and would really appreciate your help!
Thanks!

I am in the early design phase of making a somewhat unusual mashup of genres. Thematically it's a party or even warband type of rpg, where you start out as a single unit and fight, develop your character's abilities, and convince other units to join you.

The game 3 main views, and probably some number of smaller window screens.
The main view is an overhead map.
The combat view is entirely text based, like a MUD.
The specific location or I'm calling it the zone view is what I want to ask about here.

You can encounter zones and other areas on the map and 'descend' into them. At which point you enter a number of 'rooms' that you navigate through with WASD or arrow keys or mouse. You cannot see any map here, only the room you are in, and up to four 'exits' defined by North, South, East, and West, which connect to other rooms. Each zone may have something in the order of 20-50 rooms.

The room has a visible Title, an Image, and possibly other properties including encounters, npcs, items, flags etc.
This question definitely bridges into general Unity questions, but I figured I would ask here first if anyone is willing to share some advice, it's my first time trying to use unity, I am an experienced web developer.

Are there any parts of AC that I should look into for experimenting with these encounter zones? Also, it seems like this would be a single 'Scene' in Unity? That populates with dynamic room information based on some xy coordinates or something?

Thanks for your time and thoughts!
