Hi everyone!

I'm Ciro from imaginarylab, a small Italian indie studio. We’ve released our new point & click adventure, Whirlight – No Time To Trip, and I thought it was about time to share it here!

Whirlight was made with Adventure Creator for Unity, which has been a huge part of our development process. We’ve been using AC throughout the whole project, from interactions and inventory to conversations, puzzles, cutscenes and all the other little things that make a point & click adventure work.

And a special thanks definitely goes to Chris. We’ve asked him an almost embarrassing number of questions during development, and he has always been incredibly patient and helpful, even when our requests were probably a little outside the usual AC workflow.

So, after several years of development, here we are!

About the game

Whirlight – No Time To Trip is a comedic, third-person point & click adventure inspired by the classic LucasArts games we grew up with, especially Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island and Sam & Max, with a bit of Back to the Future thrown into the mix.

You play as two protagonists:

Hector, a slightly eccentric inventor living in the 1960s, and Margaret, a young artist from the 1990s.

After a rather bizarre encounter, they discover a way to travel through time and end up jumping between different eras in an attempt to prevent a catastrophic future.

There are puzzles, strange characters, questionable inventions, time travel, lots of locations to explore and, hopefully, a fair amount of laughs along the way.

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2706980/Whirlight__No_Time_To_Trip/

Trailer:

We’re a very small team and this has been a pretty long journey for us, so it’s great to finally be able to share the finished game with the Adventure Creator community.

Thanks again to Chris and everyone behind Adventure Creator. It really helped us turn what started as a rather ambitious idea into an actual game.

I'm very happy to announce a remake of Mystery House with Unity and Adventure Creator.

Trailer:

View game site here.

Music/Sfx created by me, Gfx and Speech is by AI and processed by me.

The idea was to start working in a very small adventure in order to learn all AC has to offer. Until I could generate bg images with my own AI tools this wouldn't be possible, I'm not a gfx artist. I'm a low level audio/image/DSP/AI developer with no experience in game development so far, but a lot of DirectX math/background etc.

Next try of course is a remake of Laura Bow 1 and Shadow of the Comet.

This required a considerable amount of CS scripting as well, mainly for manipulating objects because the game is mostly "single scene" with cameras changing all around. And a script for creating navigation meshes from image masks I made. There's also scripting in the riddles but I 'll share these scripts that can be used in various riddles, not only the types in my game.

This game will be free. If anyone wants a quick Windows preview for testing, I 'll be happy to provide one.

Congrats for your work. There's a lot I 've learned about AC.

Hey everyone! I've been using AC to create Point & Click adventures for years now and I absolutely LOVE it! But at the same time, I've been wanting to push my design skills further and develop something a bit more modern, but I've pretty much been using AC exclusively since the day I first opened up Unity so I'm comfortable with it. And even though AC isn't necessarily built for it, I've set out to make a hybrid Action/Adventure that features lite combat, plenty of exploration and a health dose of environmental puzzle solving! I hope you guys like what I'm trying to do and support me by following my progress at https://www.pinheadgames.com/earl-the-tomb-robber.html

Hey all! Been working on my game Dream Loop for a few years, but I've been ramping up this year and will be releasing a demo soon.

Dream Loop is a first-person adventure set inside a lucid dreamscape. The gameplay is exploring surreal environments with a tape recorder, collecting sounds and mixing them into original looping tracks. That's the main puzzle mechanic: gathering sounds from the environment and figuring out which ones work together to advance in the game. All of the music is original, created by me! 🙏

Here's the trailer:

I’m Kinteros/Fabien, developer/artist at Studio Arkos (an indie studio made up of two devs).

It’s a Point & Click adventure set on the fringes of war, entirely hand-drawn.

For now, the game is available to wishlist, and we are currently in the playtesting and puzzle balancing phase.

Hi, this is Jakub from Prague!

I've been working and learning hard over the last year and I am happy to introduce to you my project called SUBSEQUENTED.

It's 3D sci-fi point&click adventure focused on gradually uncovering the story, exploring the world, searching/using objects, solving logic puzzles and talking with NPC's. It's developed in Unity engine with Adventure Creator plugin which is amazing tool by the way (thanks Chris)!

I have a fully playable build now but there is still lot of work in front of me.
I want to release the demo version this winter.

Here are some screens from the development of the ladies toilets, because as everybody knows, every sci-fi point&click adventure has its own toilets. Next screens will follow!

And here is the webpage of SUBSEQUENTED: http://www.subsequentedgame.com/

Description: As the main female character Lensen Vicky - geneticist employed at the research facility - you have to go on a very long and difficult journey leading to rescue your brother, the last surviving member of your family.

Journey so long that you might not survive to witness its end...

How far can you get?

What do you think of these first screens?
And what do you think, is anybody still interested in adventure games today?

Thanks and bye!
Jakub

The original white-box design:

The design has changed a bit and I added texture:

After a few (a lot of!) hours with Blender and playing with Unity lighting:

I’d love to share my latest game, YAMIGATARI: FOR3ST, a 2D psychological horror experience developed using Adventure Creator.

Adventure Creator has been the backbone of the entire project. From dialogue systems and inventory handling to scene logic and puzzle implementation, it allowed me to focus on storytelling and mood instead of rebuilding core systems from scratch.

The demo is now live on Steam (currently part of Steam Next Fest), and it would mean a lot if you’d like to check it out:

I also want to give a special thanks to Chris for his continued support and for building such a powerful and flexible tool. AC has been a huge part of my journey as a developer.

Happy to answer any questions about how I used Adventure Creator in the project!

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a small personal milestone with the Adventure Creator community. After about a year of work, my short point-and-click adventure Upstairs is now on Steam with the release planned in about a month.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4352920/Upstairs/

This has been a very slow-burn project. Since I have a day job and a 3-year-old daughter, most of the game was built late at night, squeezing work into whatever little spare time I had. Because of that, Adventure Creator was honestly the only reason I even dared to start the project. Having the core logic of a classic adventure game already solved saved me an incredible amount of time. Honestly, without it I wouldn’t have made the game.

I’ll admit the first week with Adventure Creator was rough — wrapping my head around its philosophy took a while. But once it clicked, development became surprisingly smooth, and I could focus on content instead of fighting systems.

The game is a short pixel-art adventure (around 1–2 hours), inspired by LucasArts. I developed everything myself except the code, thanks again to Adventure Creator doing the heavy lifting.

Just wanted to share the experience here, since this community and tool made the project possible.

Thanks to Chris and everyone in the AC community for making solo projects like this achievable!

Hello, everyone!

on april 27th 2024 I published a short puzzle adventure game on itch.io called Stickman John, and it took me until now to remember that I had an account on this forum where I could show it off. The game is available for free on itch.io here.

The reason I've titled this thread the way I have is because the game was more-or-less built from parts of my other previous game development projects, as discussed in the postmortem article.

As the name implies, the game features a Stickman named John, A character straight out of my childhood sketchbook, as he explores a mysterious atmospheric wasteland in search of parts to fix the TrikeTrain- the oddly designed three-wheeler train engine hybrid vehicle he arrived on.

Its free to play; and even though it has been out quite a while now, I would still really love to get some feedback on the game design and storytelling, and any other aspects of the game worth talking about.

I'm looking forward to seeing what more people think of it!

Hello Adventure Creator family!

Here's my new game:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3864940/Trainwatch/

This time I'm moving beyond what AC natively does best... but I still managed to make most systems run using AC action lists! There's nothing AC can't really do! While this is not your typical point & click game it certainly does have all the elements associated with the genre: inventory, dialogues, puzzles etc. but combines them with life sims and time management games.

I hope you like the game and please consider adding it to your wishlist!
